Bath Bombs sitting in a bowl of straw

What’s all the fuss (and fizz) about bath bombs and why you'll love them

So, you've seen them on the shelves in shops, spotted them on your instagram feed fizzing away or smelt them in someones bathroom, but you’ve never tried a bath bomb and you’re not sure what all the fuss is about.

Bath bombs will take your bath and self-care ritual to the next level and leave your skin and mind feeling relaxed and ready for whatever the world throws at you.

The humble bath bomb was invented in 1989 by Lush founder Mo Constantine.  Working away in her garden shed, she mixed bicarbonate of soda, citric acid and essential oils to create the first bath bomb.  She wanted to create a bath time experience that was fun, but without all the nasty chemicals in bubble bath, so tinkered away in her shed until she found a solution.

Why your skin will love our bath bombs?

We love to keep our bath bombs simple and with all natural ingredients, so they're nice and gentle on your skin, your bath tub and the water that flows back out of your house.

Our bath bombs contain 6 main ingredients of Bicarb Soda, Citric Acid, Coconut Oil, Witch Hazel, Essential Oils & Clays

Bicarb Soda + Citric Acid

Bicarbonate of Soda & Citric Acid are the two main ingredients in bath bombs and when mixed together and added to water they fizz.

Citric Acid is a weak organic acid derived from citric fruit such as lemons, oranges & limes.  It’s a natural antioxidant that reduces the effects of aging, helps loosen & repair damaged layers of skin and helps you look younger and healthier.

Bicarb Soda is a natural mineral and has detoxifying benefits.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is extracted from raw coconuts and is frequently used in cooking or applied directly to skin and hair.

It's beneficial for skin health and helps to moisturize skin, heal wounds, reduce inflammation and even helps in preventing acne.

Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is a herbal derivative that's naturally antiseptic and known to lower inflammation, soothe irritated skin and help alleviate acne.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are concentrated extracts from plants that are known for their beneficial and aromatic effects.

All fragrances used in Gather + Harvest’s bath bombs are from essential oils, because we want only the best for you and your skin.

Clays

Our bath bombs are coloured with beautiful natuaral clays from all over the world.

The clays not only make our bath bombs look pretty, but they provide amazing cleansing and toning properties for your skin.

How to use your bath bomb?

  • Fill your bath with warm water.
  • Add your bath bomb.  Don't add the bomb before your bath is full, it works best in a full bath.
  • Jump in the bath and watch it fizz and swirl around
  • Let it dissolve properly to release all of the goodies and to make your bath relaxing and intoxicating.

Storing your bath bomb

Bath bombs love moisture and will fizz and erupt when exposed to water, so it's important that your bath bombs are stored in a cool, dry place.

Don't just leave them sitting on the bathroom bench, or they will start to erupt and go soft and lose some of their fizz.

Bath Bomb's are best used fresh.

As nice as it is to leave them in your bath room and smell the amazing essential oils every time you walk in the room, we recommend only storing your bath bombs for 4-6 weeks.

So next time you're taking a bath, drop a bath bomb in and take your bath to the next level.  Your skin and emotions will thank you for it.
